Merovingian Buckle and Plate. Circa 6th century AD. 32.90g. 42mm. An exceptional example formed of an oval fixing plate and D-shaped frame with intact pin. The fixing plate is set with three large garnets, two recessed to fit flush and a central raised elliptical stone. Gold foil is visible through the stones.
